The GRANDEST Time of Year!

| , , ,

GO TEAM!! A couple of weeks ago Jpixx made HISTORY by becoming the first-ever video production crew to livestream Downtown Norfolk‘s Grand Illumination Parade in its 33-year history!

With our biggest crew yet, truckloads of equipment and volunteers, and the buildup of adrenaline from the past few months… we were ready to make Norfolk LIT!

To pull off this kind of broadcast – we needed to iron out the details. Here are a few snaps from our tech rehearsal earlier in the week w/ our hosts April Woodard, Cheryl Tan, & Bobby Hollywood to ensure everything was perfect for Saturday!

Before the big night, the crew headed on site in the early afternoon to start scoping out the streets to set up equipment.
Setting up on Main Street w the help of Spark Street Digital and VB Resort Management‘s own George Alcaraz

Pre-parade, our man Bobby, HYPED it up at Harbor Park going from float to float to catch all the inside scoop before showtime:

Back to Main Street, with the stage set up, April and Cheryl made their way up…

The streets were FILLED w/ excited onlookers as the parade started. You can barely tell the wind was gusting at 35mph.

Maria and Kara making sure the livestream was going as planned back in our remote office!
The aftermath… George packing up the HyShot Portable Stage (An amazing new service he offers that sets up and breaks down in less than an hour!!)

Nahhhhh…..who are we kidding??? The whole team gathered up at Grain for a little celebratory after-party and we couldn’t resist going live one more time w/ Bobby!

It was an A+ night of spectacular floats and festive holidays lights that we were happy to be a part of!

Keep checking www.holidaysinthecity.net this week for parade pictures of the night will be uploaded to. And our produced version of the Grand Illumination Parade will air on WTVZ Channel 33, Dec. 9th at 8pm AND on Christmas Day at 10am! Until then, you can still watch the livestream of the parade here – but trust us, you’re going to want to see the edited version. It’s GRAND!
