Meet The Crew: Jess Flores

| , , ,

Jess Flores isn’t a new member of the team, she’s been with us for 3 years and with every year she continues to grow in every aspect of her job. Jess is an exceptional producer, actress, and filmmaker. We are extremely fortunate to have her a part of the team. Below we asked her about her love for production, books, and music!

How or where did you get your passion for creating and producing?

I feel like a lot of my passion for creating comes from my family, especially my mom. Growing up, we were always in the arts — dance, musical theatre, visual arts… everything! I’d been on a stage from the age of 7 all the way up to early 20s (I’ll occasionally make appearances now haha). Once I was in college, I started having a love for what goes on behind the camera and found that’s where my real passion was and now, here I am!

What aspect of producing are you most fond of?

I love being able to see a project from its very beginning stages to the very end. Seeing these creations come to life is just amazing and then the relationships that you make along the way are even better.

What do you enjoy the most about working at Jpixx?

Uh, have you met the people I work with?! They’re freaking awesome. They’re the most fun and supportive people I’ve ever worked with. I can’t forget to mention that they’re also extremely talented. Everyone works so well together and when we all get to collaborate on a project, it’s like magic. I also love the relationships/partnerships that we make with our clients. They become an extended family of Jpixx.

Can you think of your favorite shoot you’ve done with Jpixx?

I come from a TV/film background, so any project where we get to hire actors, I get to put together crazy call sheets, and be on set with the whole team is my favorite. It takes me back to the days when I first started in this business right out of college and I also get to see how much I’ve grown since then. It’s pretty cool!

What do you think you bring to the team?

Laughs, lots of laughs! I’m quite silly in the office and my co-workers make me feel like I’m the funniest person on earth. But on a real note, I feel as though I bring a lot of positive energy, structure, and support to the team. I’ve also been able to bring in some of my past experience and implement that into what Jpixx does.

Is there anything that Jpixx has taught you in the past three years?

Oh gosh, they’ve taught me so much over the last three years. But I would say the number one thing is to believe in myself.

What hobbies or interests do you have outside of production?

I am the biggest book nerd right now. I have a goal of reading 50 books in 2022 and I’m already on books 40 and 41 (yes, I’m reading two simultaneously). I’m always up for a relaxing day on the beach or taking my Jeep on the beach in OBX. I try to get myself into a dance class or two every now and then as well.

Favorite music artist?

I have such a wide variety of music that I listen to. I love Common Kings, Taking Back Sunday (and all other pop punk/alternative from the 90s/00s), Darius Rucker/Hootie and the Blowfish, and you’ll definitely catch me rapping some Luda if he’s on.

What are some of your favorite books of all time?

Give me anything by Colleen Hoover; that woman hits all my emotions. Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica was INSANE! Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson came out this year and that’s definitely one of my favorite reads as well.

NSYNC or Backstreet Boys and why?

WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME ANSWER THIS?! Ah, I’m going to say BSB and don’t make me tell you why. I did just see them in concert though and it was hands down one of the best concerts I’ve been to. I don’t think I’ve been around so many other women in their 30s all squealing like we were little teeny boppers again.

Do you have any advice to give to newer people in the industry?

Get in there! Start making your connections, work hard, and be receptive. What you put into the industry is definitely what you’ll get out of it. Oh, and be nice 🙂
