It’s been a long wait but now, it’s finally here! Head to www.skyezentzmusic.com to see the full Jpixx/Skye Zentz collaborative music video for “The Tide.”
This ode to Norfolk reflects more than a year’s worth of dedication from our director Jon Abrahams, artist Skye Zentz and more than 300 local participants.
The next day, we were back in Downtown Norfolk for the kickoff to First Fridays. Hundreds of people gathered for hours of fun from local merchants including balloons, face painting and balloon animals.
The next day was a big day for us! Finally, the moment we’d all been waiting for – the launch of the music video for Skye Zentz’ song “The Tide.” Jon spent many long hours editing the video down to the wire and we couldn’t have been happier about the response.
The launch party at O’Connor’s Brewing Co. was a major success thanks to all the awesome vendors and artists who helped out. We had a booth from Kitsch, DJP and MrT, Shara Wertz (on face paint), 757 Makerspace, The Scene and a giant art area with Amanda Page Stephens. Skye even took part in the face painting fun!
We also had great performances from Little Pants and Ian Randall Thornton!
Finally, we closed off the night with the Emerging Artist Contest. The event showcased some truly amazing talent, right here in Hampton Roads!
If you weren’t able to make it out this year, be sure to follow us on Facebook for updates on next year’s event and videos from 2015!
Special thanks to:

And last but not least, the people who keep us on track, the amazing Jpixx crew
It’s been quite a year creating the music video for Skye Zentz’ song “The Tide.” Through the efforts of so many people, we have been able to capture the heart of Norfolk with scenes all over the city. From Nauticus to the Norfolk Botanical Garden, we’ve seen it all. Now, we want to share the video with you at the official launch party this Saturday from 2-5 p.m. at O’Connor Brewing Co.
Come enjoy a wide range of family activities with face painting from 2-3 p.m., outdoor art with Amanda Page from 3-4 p.m., and so much more! There will even be a photo booth called “Little Norfolk, Big Me” featuring a miniature replica of Norfolk (you can be Godzilla! Just don’t actually smash the models, ok?).
The event will also feature acts from Little Pants and Ian Randall Thornton, local bands that will blow you away with their talent. You can also hang out with PBS Kids at their van with dozens of toys and giveaways!
And did we mention Skye Zentz will be performing?! Gather around as she teaches you the moves to her new song and dance along to the music video premiere! There’s so much going on at the launch party, just one of the pieces of the 8th Annual Sea Level Singer/Songwriter Festival benefitting Tidewater Arts Outreach. Hope to see you there!
With Thanksgiving upon us, it seems appropriate to show appreciation for our latest achievement here at Jpixx. Last Thursday, the Phoebus Film Club Series honored us with the “Best in Show” title for our film “Blackwind.”
The music video first gained recognition as an entry to the Genero.tv Music Video Competition, where the artist Patrick Watson selected us as finalists.
This time, we came home with the gold.
Contestants from all across Hampton Roads entered their work for submissions, but only 7 projects were selected to be shown at the evening of local film. Jpixx was honored to have all three of its submissions selected for viewing, including “In Captivity” and “The Alcoholic.”
The other participants included Brett Lewis with his film “Operation Smile”; Chip Johnson with “Tandem”; FiftyOneFifteenProductions with “Fatal Games”; and Tyler Rhodes with “Evolution.”
At the end of the screenings, audience members cast their votes as the directors eagerly waited to see who would win best short.
The second place winner was announced leaving a hush as we waited to hear who would walk away as the champion of the world night’s winner!
Upon winning for “Blackwind,” Jon gave a lovely acceptance speech and received a gleaming trophy along with a gift certificate for two at a local Hampton restaurant. #winning
Of course, there’s more thanks to be given. First, we’re thankful for family.
Extended family.
And extended-extended family — our clients and fans that drive us to do our best each and every day.

Get ready folks! The big premiere of the music video for Skye Zentz’ “The Tide” has been scheduled for a splash in Hampton Roads THIS SPRING. But first, a look back.
A big shout out to all those who PACKED THE PLOT with us on July 18th for our grand finale shoot of “The Tide“! What a blast! We had about 100 people show up, including a mermaid!
If you missed it, check out the drone camera shot below for a glimpse of what the video will be like! There was dancing, singing, and plenty of good times had. We have to give a shout out to Panavoir for providing their food truck at our event.
The overall support by local businesses and organizations has been tremendous. Even Mayor Paul Fraim sang along! The people involved have been wonderful and play a big part in making this project possible. Did you catch The Tide on the front page of the Virginian-Pilot? How about on Channel 13? This is the most publicity we’ve ever received. It’s exciting!
The video is not yet done but we are excited to see how it comes together. Skye has been truly amazing to work with. She brings such positive energy to all our shoots. Her love for Norfolk shines at each location we visit and we’ve been all over Norfolk.
Joe, our marketing intern, has done a great job handling a lot of the producing and marketing for this music video. He even volunteered to be the Virginia Wesleyan College mascot, Bob Marlin, at our VWC shoot!
Jpixx is joining Pharrell Williams (who was born in VaBeach) and others around the world to celebrate International Day of Happiness March 20th. We’ve created a #HAPPYDAY video of Pharrell Williams’ song, “Happy” complete with dancing and lots of smiles. Even though it rained and soaked everyone’s socks, we had a blast! The sun came out for a few minutes, and with it, a rainbow. Thanks to all those who took part in our video! Have a Happy Day from Jpixx!
Jpixx’s BareNakedLadies Music Video Submission for “Boomerang” was named a finalist, but ultimately lost the honor of being the official music video to an animated entry seen here. Our video amassed more then 3,000 views in the month that it was in competition, and drew a sizable Social Media following, thanks in part to the large cast and crew. In the end, the video that was LEAST popular in terms of views won the contest – and by no conicidence, was the only video to showcase the BNL bandmembers themselves…Those silly Canadians…
