Lights, Camera, Action! Filmily Fest 2016 in Production!

Filmily Fest is back again for 2016! The mission of the festival is to strengthen the film community in Hampton Roads by creating dynamite films and improving their work through peer reviews.

Filmily Fest provides a platform for local artists to not only work together to enhance their craft but to showcase their innovative and extraordinary vision at a celebratory night of screening and awards. Filmmakers receive feedback from their peers on how to improve scripts and edits, but they also can share crew members, equipment and ideas. Everything is fair and friendly right down to how the films are judged, which is by the participating filmmakers themselves.

Currently, we have about a half dozen teams in production and will continue to be until Thanksgiving. Each team was given six photos to inspire their film, two weeks to shoot, edit and turn in their film, followed by an extra week for director’s cut.

Filmily Fest was brought back a second year due to the excitement and the unity of its first run in 2015 with hopes of making the bond amongst the Hampton Roads film community air tight! The response this year has been overwhelming and team participation has more than doubled.
