Jpixx Takes on the 48 Hour Film Projects, Times Four!

|

The 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP) is no small feat! Filmmakers have just two days to write, shoot, edit, and deliver a finished short film. For Jpixx, this summer brought multiple different 48HFP adventures—each with its own unique team, story, and energy.

Savannah’s 48: Daze.mp4 🌾

Two 48s down this year… and Savannah Heller doesn’t plan on stopping. 😈

Most recently, Savannah ran her team in the Hampton Roads 48 Hour Film Project under the name “Daze.mp4”. With a genre pull of “Western/Time” Travel and a tiny but mighty crew, she took the challenge to Lake Gaston at “the Ranch”.

“From the jump, my goal for this 48 was simple: don’t take it too seriously, just have fun with my friends and let everyone shine,” Savannah shared.

And shine they did. Horses on set, late-night scriptwriting, gear-building, and wardrobe magic—all came together in “The Misadventures of the Ashes of Mary Jo Sarah Beth”. The film not only captured the crowd with laughs and cheers, but also doubled as a personal time capsule featuring Savannah’s fiancé and his dad.

The kicker? Savannah’s team wrapped filming earlier than ever before and submitted their cut hours ahead of schedule, a rare win in the world of 48s!

Jpixx Jr. Presents: “Pick Me Up” 🚙

Meanwhile, Jon and Teviya Abrahams teamed up with the next generation of filmmakers, Jpixx Jr., to create their 48HFP entry, “Pick Me Up”.

This team was stacked with Jon and Teviya’s kids, their friends, and a few additional actors and crew. Shooting across multiple locations, including the magical lantern festival at Mount Trashmore. The young team brought their creative spark to the challenge. In contrast to Daze.mp4’s early submission, Jpixx Jr. submitted theirs with less than a minute to spare! (Hence, the stressed crew picture while submitting).

For Jon, it was about more than just making a film; it was about giving the kids a crash course in filmmaking, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. The result? A project that blended youthful energy with solid storytelling, proving that the 48 bug is alive and well in the next generation.

Richmond 48: “No Open Feet” 🧦

To top it all off, Jpixx also entered the Richmond 48 Hour Film Project with “No Open Feet”. This film struck a chord with audiences and came away with the Audience Favorite award for its screening group! Take a look at the audience favorite “No Open Feet” here!

Between the chaos of the weekend challenge and the joy of seeing their film light up the big screen, the Richmond team walked away with another reminder of why Jpixx keeps saying “yes” to these whirlwind film sprints.

Jpixx Talent in “Frizzy Friends” ✂️

The Richmond 48 Hour Film Project wasn’t just about “No Open Feet”. Two Jpixx team members also lent their talents to another entry—“Frizzy Friends”, directed by Kendra Louka & Melissa Howerton.

✨ Lisa Purcell worked as the film’s Costume Designer, bringing her eye for detail and character to the screen.
✨ Hanna Lynch jumped in as part of the production team, helping bring the story to life during the whirlwind weekend.

It was yet another reminder of the creativity and collaboration that flows through the Jpixx family, both on our own sets and when teaming up with other filmmakers.

Why We Keep Coming Back 🎥

Four different films, four unique teams, and four unforgettable weekends. The 48 Hour Film Project is always unpredictable, exhausting, and a little bit wild—but it’s also where creativity thrives!

For Jpixx, these projects are about more than just the films themselves. They’re about collaboration, pushing creative limits, and building memories with the people who make storytelling possible.

And something tells us… this won’t be the last time you’ll see Jpixx hitting the 48 clock. 🎬⏱️
