Behind the Scenes with Roc Solid Foundation: Jpixx Tells a Powerful Pediatric Cancer Story

|

At Jpixx, we believe in the power of storytelling — and one story that deeply touched us is our most recent collaboration with the incredible Roc Solid Foundation.

The video centers around Paige, the oldest of three sisters, whose journey of stepping up for her younger sister Jackie, who bravely battled cancer, reveals a quiet resilience and deep emotional growth. As Jackie underwent treatment, Paige found herself learning what it means to be a source of strength, support, and hope. Alongside their little sister Alex and loving parents, Katie and Danny, Paige helped anchor the family through the storm.

The story takes viewers on a metaphorical climb up Mount Everest — a visual representation of the family’s emotional and physical journey through pediatric cancer. From the very beginning, this family was at the heart of the project. Not only did they share their story with openness and strength, but they also played a direct role in shaping the vision for the final piece.

Family opens a hospital gift.

It wasn’t just about making a video — it was about building an experience that matched the realness of their story. To do that, our production team filmed at various locations throughout Norfolk and Virginia Beach, including the EVMS simulation hospital and the family’s indoor softball facility.

We embraced the challenge of creating cinematic magic — complete with green screens, fake snow, glue icicles, snowjackets, ladders, and more. Each prop played a part in transporting viewers into the emotional and physical journey this family experienced.

A director giving direction.

Led by Jpixx filmmaker Trey Batchelor, this was his first major visual effects project, and he rose to the occasion beautifully. Trey worked closely with the family, guided the production with calm leadership, and ensured every person on set felt connected to the story being told.

Behind the scenes, our entire team stepped up. From production assistants to camera ops to set dressers, this was a true team effort. We couldn’t have done it without the constant support and collaboration of Roc Solid Foundation.

A huge shoutout to Ashley Martin and John “Framez” Frame from Roc Solid, who were present on every set, lending their passion, guidance, and helping hands at every turn. Their mission — to build hope for families fighting pediatric cancer — was felt in every scene and every interaction. Working with Roc Solid doesn’t just mean showing up for a job — it means rising to the occasion. They encourage us to ‘think big’, challenge ourselves creatively, and to always “Go For It!”. That trust allows us to push boundaries and deliver something truly meaningful.

Their impact is nothing short of extraordinary. In just the past year alone, Roc Solid Foundation has built hundreds of custom play sets, delivered over 5,000 Ready Bags to families at the moment of diagnosis, and supported more than 5,000 families through some of their hardest days. These aren’t just numbers — they’re moments of joy, comfort, and connection for families who need it most. It’s a testament to a mission that continues to grow and reach more lives every day. Stay tuned for the premiere at Night for the Fight 2025 — and in the meantime, we encourage you to learn more and support Roc Solid Foundation’s mission to spread hope across the country, one family at a time.
