250 Years and Still Going!

| , , , ,

We saw the future when we met up with Norfolk Naval Shipyard to help them celebrate their big 250th Anniversary. As America’s oldest shipyard, NNSY has built, launched, and repaired ships for 250 years… whew! Not only that, the shipyard is the 4th largest employer in the Hampton Roads area with over 10,000 people employed. This historic landmark is not just about the past, but also continually finding new and innovative ways to achieve their mission. Our shoot will be a part of their documentary coming out – where you’ll get to see the ship traveling through time!

For this shoot, we got to work with the brilliant Bree Malzow, who captured the essence of the shoot so perfectly… she really could have been from the future this whole time.

Bree going over the script one last time
Cameraman Greg and Director Chris making sure the setup is ready before calling action
Getting reflector ready with Chris, Chandler, and Greg!

One of the many perks of the shoot was being able to work in front of a green screen – where the future truly comes alive!

As Greg would say… we’re “camera ready!”

Being the oldest shipyard in America means NNSY is home to many “firsts”… now add conquering the reflector by Jpixx Fall intern, Lily!

The SFX guru Jim McCullough and Jon catchin’ all the action from the monitor

Still smilin’ after a hard day’s work!

The documentary for all of this will be released so soon, and we can’t wait to see it! In the meantime, have look at the list of events in celebration of their 250th Anniversary. Celebrations last until November 11th, but the main event is November 1 – exactly 250 years after the establishment of what is known today as the Norfolk Naval Shipyard!
